Former Disney machinist now faces sex crime charges for assaulting fourth victim

SANTA ANA – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) filed new charges against a former amusement park worker for sexually assaulting a fourth minor female victim with new additional charges for the sexual assault of Jane Doe #1. The defendant was previously charged with sexually assaulting Jane Doe #1, a female relative, Jane Doe #2, the 7-year-old daughter of a family friend, and Jane Doe #3, another female relative. Bryan William Anast, 45, Corona was charged yesterday, Aug. 28, 2013, with five felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14, one felony count of forcible lewd act on a child under 14, one felony count of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and one felony count of producing child pornography. Star Wars Celebration coming to Anaheim in 2015

At the end of Star Wars Celebration Europe’s closing ceremonies this weekend, Lucasfilm officially announced the details of its next official convention: Star Wars Celebration 2015 will be held in Anaheim, California, from April 16-19, 2015. Timed with the release of Star Wars: Episode VII, this promises to be a Star Wars Celebration like no other.

The move to Anaheim makes perfect sense because the Convention Center is all but attached to Disneyland. It’s also the site of the D23 Expo. Being that Disney now owns Lucasfilm, it would be surprising to see these events anywhere but Anaheim and Orlando when they take place in the U.S., according to IFilm. Continue reading

Did Diaz have it coming? The OCDA cleared the cop who shot him

The Orange County District Attorney released a letter today clearing Anaheim police officer Nick Bennallack, who shot and killed a gang member, Manuel Diaz last summer – an event that triggered riots in the shadow of Disneyland.

The finding by the DA set off a firestorm of complaints on news and social media – mainly asserting that there was no way the DA was going to find Bennallack guilty.

But let’s take a step back here for a moment.  Why would a cop go to all the trouble of becoming a cop just to blow his career by shooting some unarmed gang banger in the back?  Remember that most cops join the police force for the pay and benefits, and because they can be cops without having a college degree.  And cops get to retire young, with huge pensions.
